WHERE DO I FIND THE RADAR MAPS YOU HAD ON THE OLD SITE?

WGN-TV and the Chicago Weather Center no longer use radar maps from Weather Underground. Instead, we have a selection of maps available that offer different levels of detail. You can read about the options here >>

HOW DO I NAVIGATE THE NEW HIGH-RES INTERACTIVE MAPS?

To view all the map controls, mouse over the blue bar across the top. Double-click on the map for current conditions and forecast in that location. If you want to switch locations using a zip code, city name or address, click on the "location" tab.

The maps allow you to turn on and off features like radar, current conditions, alerts, storm reports, and many more. Here is a quick guide to the map controls:





WHERE DO I FIND THE MAPS THAT TOM SKILLING REFERS TO ON WGN-TV, INCLUDING THE JET STREAM AND SATELLITE MAPS?

All the maps can be found by clicking on "maps" in the blue sub-navigation bar from the front of the site. You can also bookmark this page: http://www.chicagoweathercenter.com/maps/




WHERE DO I FIND TOM SKILLING'S FULL 7-DAY FORECAST?

The full forecast is available by scrolling down the front page of the site or clicking from the top navigation bar to the "Skilling's 7-day forecast" section. You can also bookmark this page: http://www.chicagoweathercenter.com/forecast/





HOW DO I SEARCH FOR WEATHER BY ZIP CODE USING THE MAPS?


You can click on the "location" box in the navigation at the top of the map and then enter the zip code for your destination. You can also enter a particular address or city name.





HOW DO I FIND CURRENT CONDITIONS OR FORECASTS FOR LOCATIONS OUTSIDE THE CHICAGO AREA?

You can enter a zip code or city and state (example: Chicago, Illinois or Chicago, IL) in the lookup box on every page of the site. You can also click on the "Clickcast" button on the map navigation bar to get current conditions anywhere in the world.




WHERE IS THE MARINE FORECAST?

You can reach the marine forecast from the front of the site by clicking on "marine" in the blue sub-navigation bar. You can also reach the marine forecast through our Lake Michigan map page: http://www.chicagoweathercenter.com/locations/lakemichigan/ On this page, you also can get buoy data by double clicking on the buoys in the lake.




WHERE IS THE ALMANAC?

You can reach the almanac from the front of the site by clicking on "almanac" in the blue sub-navigation bar. You can also bookmark this page: http://www.chicagoweathercenter.com/news/almanac/




WHERE IS THE WEATHER DATA THAT SHOWS UP ON THE FRONT OF THE SITE RECORDED?

The weather data is for the O'Hare zip code. All forecasts for Chicago are based on Tom Skilling's analysis.




WHERE CAN I LEARN ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WATCHES AND WARNINGS?
